Blue Electric Light Orchestra
#9 — February 19, 2007 @ 21:29PM — Paul in AtlantaI've been listening to ELO from the beginning. The packaging berlin hotel platz potsdamer of this CD is magnificent and frustrating at the same time. A reissue of a title that never went out of print seems a bit odd, as does the lack of comment that it never went out of print. In the next few days I made some major alterations and when I was done, she arranged to get him out of the house for a few hours and I went to work in his bedroom. It reminds me of a garage band that somehow talked some string players into jamming behind them. After about two hours of discussing what she said he’d like, I borrowed the double album, made a tape of it and began working. Within the 24 pages is the fascinating story of how the group was formed by Jeff Lynne, how the album was recorded, and facts about the group members. Oh and by the way; I only had 10 days to complete it. She was still fuming because I wouldn’t let her see it in advance. #8 — February 19, 2007 @ 20:36PM — Jet in Columbus URLAcid? As I said in the review, the new photos, the story of how the album was made is reason enough. I'm going to buy it tomorrow, of course, in the hope that it will sound better this time around. If anyone wants to purchase these but can't find them, they can be purchased from ELO's website. Blue Sky" began putting fantasy science fiction pictures in my head and on paper, and within hours I had the concept for it. It is loaded with dozens and dozens of photos and any fan would love the collection… if it weren’t for one little thing — no lyrics art body clip human were included! In the center is a little “assemble by inserting tab A into slot B” paper model on its own little pedestal of the spaceship on the cover. I, too, am a fan of ELO. I’d been commissioned to do a painting for a friend who told me money was no object. As fascinating as the artwork story was, (and it was good. . Listening to a classic piece of music like this sort of taints today’s music somehow and makes you want to go back to a simpler time when singers actually sang. "The Quick and the Daft" (Some electronic CD playback displays — mine included — have it listed as The Quick and the Draft) is an absolute classic Jeff Lynne/ELO instrumental at its finest, but at only 1:49 long. Maybe you should write something about the painting you did that was inspired by Pink Floyd's Animals. In a few days I had a day scene of two opposing cliffs taking up the outer thirds hospital joseph provena st of both sides of the painting. #18 — March 2, 2007 @ 10:50AM — Jet in Columbus URLThanks Amy, unfortunately my portfolio and the photo negatives for that era were destroyed in a fire. Now I bet that would be interesting. I closed the curtains to darken the room and turned on black lights. As for the CD extras?"Wild West Hero-alternate Bridge" is what appears to be part of a rehearsal session for the finished song, in which Jeff harmonizes with others a cappella at home… but it’s only 24 seconds long. This album is the soundtrack to one of the most glorious periods of my life, and at the time I didn’t know, or even care, who the Electric Light Orchestra was! Now it’s linked to one of the best pieces of art I’d ever created. I actually prefer ELO's earlier stuff like "Face the Music" and especially the magnificent "Eldorado," but Out of The Blue was probably their last really good record. I merely have to look at it to hear The Mamas and the Papas Greatest Hits, Pink Floyd’s Animals, Alan Parson’s Turn of a Friendly Card etc. Sounds amazing!) I'd have liked to have heard why this CD betters my old LP, or the old CD full of digital artifacts. A time when a hit song didn’t have the same three-second set of notes played over and over and over again while some guy told you how tough he was, the size of his gun, how many cars he owned or how many ho’s he could get. #2 — February 18, 2007 @ 23:25PM — Jet in Columbus URLWhat? The magnificent artwork on the outer cover was wonderful… full sized, but shrunk down to the size of a CD case, hardly does it justice at all unless you have a magnifying glass handy. Also, you can find out the latest news by joining the ELO email list. I also informed her I didn’t need his house key and that she should call me in about a week to pick it up. close Blogcritic of the Day — Sibin Mohan Blogcritics Radio TonightListen and Call In! » Big Tent Roundtable, 5pm ET: Politics and Election Talk with Dave Nalle, Carla Thompson, Terry Shannon, John Bambenek, Mark Schannon; B-Sides Concept Album, 10:00pm ET: Josh Hathaway Is Joined by Fast Horse Recording Artist Rahim AlHaj GlossLip » D and KMore on Jamie Lynn, Merry Christmas Desicritics » Aaman Lamba Has Ten Questions for Al Qaeda Sports » NFL Week 16 Picks: RJ Elliott, David Mazzotta; Stephen CarradiniWhat Do The Mitchell Report, The Patriots And The Mountaineers Have In Common?, Charlie Doherty on Roger Clemens Music » Chris Beaumont's Favorite Albums of 2007, Mark Saleski's Top 10 Jazz Albums of '07 Confessions of a Fanboy » Josh HathawaySpringsteen in London and Paris Film » BC Mag Watches I Am Legend: Chris Beaumont, Hugh Ruppersburg, Tall Writer, moviejohn, Colin Boyd Books » Kevin Eagan Explores Jack Kerouac's American JourneyThe Real-Life Odyssey of "On The Road" by Paul Maher Jr. The most painful part of the CD depends on if you’ve previously owned the 12” vinyl album. Miles below in the middle third, I put a futuristic city on a flat plateau’s floor, with a river running through it and nifty buildings and air cars flying around in traffic patterns.
